Dr. Bethel Mulugeta is Smile Train’s Program Assistant, Interventions for East Africa – Horn. She first joined Smile Train in December 2020 as Senior Nutrition Advisor on a freelance basis. Bethel has a strong passion for medical institutional service. She is a co-founder and board member of the charity organizations Healing Valves Ethiopia and Crohn`s and Colitis Organization, Ethiopia. She is also a volunteer medical consultant to Hope for the Fatherless (HFTF), a large NGO, and has been working as a health promotion publisher on the Doctor Tena Facebook and Telegram pages.

Dr. Bethel believes working with Smile Train to sponsor free cleft surgeries and comprehensive cleft care for some of the world’s most vulnerable children has been her greatest honor. She is highly excited and inspired to serve Smile Train’s cause with full energy and commitment.

Dr. Bethel earned her MD in 2019 from Addis Ababa University, College of Health Science. In 2022, she completed her Masters’ degree in General Public Health (MPH).
