Leila Kigha

Leila (Lei’lah) Kigha is the Content Creator at Smile Train Africa, where she plays a pivotal role on the Communications team. With proficiency in English and French, she is instrumental in elevating storytelling efforts across various social media and website platforms. Her efforts directly contribute to Smile Train's work fostering a global cleft community, raising awareness, and promoting acceptance while combating the stigma associated with clefts.

Drawing from a rich background in media and PR, Leila brings a wealth of experience to her role. Her career spans from being a broadcast journalist for TV and radio to serving as a station manager, editor-in-chief, news presenter, field reporter, and content creator/editor for prominent newsrooms. This extensive experience has honed her skills in effective communication and storytelling.

Prior to joining Smile Train, Leila excelled as a PR officer for a non-governmental organization, where she adeptly managed relationships and contracts with partners while overseeing the development of press releases, advertorials, and press conferences. Her work involved collaboration with government departments, embassies, and international organizations, providing her with a broad understanding of relationship management and strategic communication.

A dedicated and purpose-driven professional, Leila is also a certified personal-brand strategist, leveraging her expertise to assist brands in developing and implementing impactful strategies for visibility and financial increase.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Leila is a passionate creative (workbooks, planners, eBooks, etc.) and a dedicated women’s empowerment advocate. However, her highest value lies in her unwavering integrity and compassion, which serve as the cornerstone of her personal and professional ethos.
