Program Director, Francophone West and Central Africa
Based in the Central African Republic, Dr. Nicole Bouba, DMD and Health Economist, is Smile Train’s Program Director for Francophone West and Central Africa. Her 19 years of post-graduate experience cutting across dental surgery, public health, and management have helped her develop strong skills in results-based leadership. Notably, her expertise has informed the planning, budgeting, monitoring, and execution of national programs on HIV/AIDS, nutrition, and malaria for the Senegalese Ministry of Health.
Since joining Smile Train in August 2017, Dr. Bouba has established good relationships with existing and new medical partners throughout West and Central Africa. Thanks to her efforts, more countries have comprehensive cleft care programs, dormant partnerships have been reactivated and expanded, and hospitals throughout the region now have cutting-edge medical equipment and staff trained in the latest healthcare skills. To expand education and training in the Francophone West Africa region, she recently signed an MoU with a renowned speech institute in Togo, ENAM Lome, to train six scholars and promote quality speech treatments for patients in the region.
Dr. Bouba is passionate about health equity to promote equitable social, economic, and environmental conditions to achieve optimal physical health, mental health, and wellbeing for all.
